Can We Be Absolutely Certain There is A God ??? From a pamphlet called "10 Reasons To Believe In The Bible"
#4 The Miracles of the Bible are so spectacular history outside the Bible has also indirectly verified several of them. Israel's exodus from Egypt; the parting of the Red Sea; The resurrection of Jesus from the dead; even the miracle of Jonah has verification from archaeological discoveries. #3 The individual authors of the Bible claim that God spoke to them and they were writing the very words of God. They were able to tell in advance many things that happened and they wrote many things that science has since proven to be true that were not believed by the great minds of the day. They wrote that the world hangs in space on nothing. Many books have been written trying to show errors in the Bible, but those books have been proven to be in error and the Bible stands without proven errors or contradictions. Millions steak their lives on the "Word of God" and many have given their lives to carry the message to the world that needs a Savior who is Christ the Lord. #2 "Just as the state of Israel was emerging from thousands of years of dispersion, a bedouin shepherd discovered one of the most important archaeological treasures of our time. In a cave at the northwest rim of the Dead Sea, a broken jar yielded documents that had been hidden for two millennia. Additional finds produced manuscripts that predated previous oldest copies by 1,000 years. One of the most important was a copy of Isaiah. It revealed a document that is essentially the same as the book of Isaiah that appears in our own Bibles. The Dead Sea Scrolls emerged from the dust like a symbolic handshake to a nation coming home. They discredited the claims of those who believed that the original Bible had been lost to time and tampering. " There were at least partial copies of every book of the Hebrew Bible except Ester among the Dead Sea Scrolls. The book of Daniel had the most copies and some of them carbon dated to more than 300 B.C. The book of Daniel, written during his lifetime in captivity in Babylon from 606 BC to 540 B.C. tells the exact date that the Messiah would come and tells that the City of Jerusalem would be destroyed after the Messiah is put to death. The city of Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD. Christ had been put to death about 40 years earlier. The Bible has come to us the way it was written. #1 The honesty of the Bible. It tells about the failures of its heroes. Even though the Bible is honest about its heroes, it is not bragging about the sin. The Bible has an absolute moral standard demanding perfect obedience to that standard and promises that God will judge every sin with infinite severity but He will cover that sin for those who repent and offer the required sacrifice . In the New Testament we learn that those sacrifices in the Old Testament were pictures of the one sacrifice that would actually pay for those sins and allow God to forgive the sin and then attribute the perfect righteousness of The Lord Jesus Christ to the person who repents and receives the perfect sacrifice God offered for us. John 1:1-12 Romans 10:9-13 Ephesians 2:4-10.
